Stāķi primary school in Latvia opens door to G&G
Twenty students aged from 9 to 10, participated in training sessions in Stāķi primary school, learning how to teach grandparents some computer skills. During the training process pupils were assisted by „G&G” trainer Aiga Vagule and teacher from Stāķi primary school Sarmīte Stupāne. Children had a chance to acquire a role of teacher, which was a surprising experience for many of them, realizing that teacher’s job is harder than it might seem and requires a lot of patience.
In the first training pupils assisted grandparents in searching for information online and saving the necessary files on the computer’s hard drive. In the second training session grandparents learned how to create an e-mail account and communicate via Skype.
Trainers observed that children were happy to step into teachers` shoes, explaining and showing grandparents the basics of computer and internet tools. Training sessions were concluded with fun activities and a tour to the recently established school’s museum, which was led by the head of Stāķi primary school Diāna Šķēla.
