Since 1994 ZAWiW develops innovative education programs for adults, especially for seniors, which are also subsequently accompanied scientifically by the ZAWiW. Specifics are:

• Continuing education weeks with up to 1000 participants twice a year.
• Development and dissemination of activating and sustainable training methods for seniors.
• Design and realization of various projects, intergenerational education programs.
• Promotion of the active participation of learners , for example by action research and working groups "learning by research".
• Education of the e lderly in Europe.
• Member of the international organisation A.I.U.T.A., coordinator of the European network "L earning in Later Life".
• Extensive experience in launching virtual learning groups at national and international level, cooperative learning activities and design of online courses.
• Participation / coordination of community projects.
