WRITER's toolbars

It is recommended to get to know the toolbars and its main functions.
In the picture below you can see the so called WRITER interface.

TITLE BAR: as usual in Windows, the title bar shows: the program icon, file name, program name and, on the right, the closing and resizing buttons.

MENU BAR: Just below the title bar there is the menu bar. If you choose one of the menus, a submenu drops down to show commands. Following is a short description:

File contains commands that apply to the entire document such as as open, save, print.
Edit contains commands for editing the document: undo, copy & paste, find & replace, ...
View contains commands for controlling the display of the document (zoom, web layout).

Insert contains commands for inserting elements into the document such as headers, footers, pictures and other graphics.
Format contains commands for text formatting, page layout, paragraphs, bullets & numbering.
Table shows all commands to insert and edit a table in a text document.
Tools contains functions such as spellcheck, customize, and options.
Window contains commands for the display window.
Help contains links to help and support files, and information about the program.

BUTTONS BAR: (in one or more lines): the buttons represent the menus and submenus used more frequently. So you can directly press the buttons without going through the corresponding menu of the menu bar. There are several button toolbars, the main you can see in default position are the standard (above) and formatting (below) toolbars.

THE RULER: is both vertical and horizontal and it shows the margins of the page.

THE STATUS BAR: is useful especially to see the number of pages of the document (left) and to use the zoom to visualize the workspace smaller or larger as you prefer (right).
